How we verify
This site shows the published rules of visa and residence programs and lets you estimate your own result. It is general information, not advice. The rules below describe how the figures get onto a page.
Where figures come from
Every figure comes from an official source: a law, a ministry or immigration agency page, or an official announcement. We state it in our own words and link to the original instead of copying it.
Source types
- Type A: primary official
- Laws, regulations, and the pages of the authority that runs the program. Figures are taken from these.
- Type B: official news
- Press releases and announcements of the authority. They can show that a rule is about to change.
- Type C: secondary
- News media and commentary. A type C report is only a signal that something may have changed. It is never the source of a figure on this site; we go back to a type A source first.
Source and date next to every figure
Each number on a program page carries the ID of its source and the date it was last checked against that source. The «Source & freshness» block at the bottom of a program page lists the official sources, the date of the last check and the version of the rules.
What is not published
- A program stays a draft until its figures are checked against an open primary source. Drafts are not published and are not listed for search engines.
- A figure we could not check is shown as «under verification» or left out. We do not fill gaps with guesses.
- A rule that is expected to change but has not been officially published is marked as an expectation and is not used in the calculation.
Who changes the rules
Program rules are kept as structured data. They are changed only by a person after checking the official source. Software and AI tools may point out a possible change, but they do not change published rules.
The calculator
The calculator reads the same data as the pages. It runs in your browser and shows an estimate, with the rows it used and what is missing. The result is not an official decision and does not predict one.
Found a mistake?
Rules change and we can be wrong or out of date. Check the current rules on the official website linked on the page. A public way to report errors will be added here.
